Recipe Templates

Recipe Templating can be used for a variety of purposes, but the main aim is for users to control recipes at multiple locations from a single site.

  • To begin, select Recipe Template from the main menu in the Recipes section:

  • The Recipe Template Menu uses the Sales Category options for navigation, similar to the recipe menu. To begin creating a Recipe Template, click on "Add new template" in the top right of the Recipe Template menu:

  • On the New Template menu, you will first need to enter a Recipe Name and select a recipe category:

  • Once this is done, recipe information and product selection options will become available:

  • Click on the Select Product field to find the product selection menu. This list will display all products available on the system, so it is highly recommended to use the search bar.

  • Once you have selected your product, you will need to add a quantity and a corresponding unit for the product.

  • Once you're happy with your choices, click on the Save button.

  • You can add images, notes, and as many products to your template as necessary. Once the template is ready, and you're certain you wish to create the recipe in your current location, click on the Create Recipe button.

The Create Recipe from Template menu has a lot of options, but everything works quite simply provided your original template contains compatible data.

  • If all of your product and package information is correct, you will see only the green thumbs-up symbol Green_Thumbs_Up.PNG.
  • If any items in your template are incompatible, you will instead see a red thumbs-down symbol Red_Thumbs_down.PNG. If you are facing compatibility issues, please read the Creating & Linking Batches/Recipes from the Recipe Template guide.
  • Once you're ready to create a recipe from your template, you have the option of adding some further information:
    • PLU - this is the unique code associated with your EPoS. You can enter it now, or create the recipe without one and simply add it later using the Quick Update feature.
    • Sales Price - this is the price the recipe will sell for. You can enter it now, or create the recipe without one and simply add it later using the Quick Update feature.
    • Tax percentage - this will default to a particular number but you can adjust it here or change it later on.
    • Link Recipe? - This tick box will link your created recipe to the template. This means that you will not be able to edit the recipe directly at this location. Instead, the recipe contents (ingredients, name, category) will be controlled via the template. For multi-site locations, this is ideal, as it allows changes to the same recipe placed across multiple locations to propagate throughout the system at the click of a button.

  • Once you are happy with the details, you can click the Create Recipe from template button.
  • You will be returned to the Recipe Template menu, where you can see your template added. This page displays below information:
    • Recipe Name - the name of your template.
    • Grouping - the group your template (and items created from it) will be located in.
    • Number of Ingredients - the number of separate products included in your template.
    • Linked Items - the number of items linked to that template.
    • Used as Batch - the number of recipes/batches in which that template is used as a batch in.
    • mceclip1.png - the username of the person & the date of template creation.
    • Del - you can use the red mceclip2.png to delete the template.

You can also use the Create option to the left of the template name to jump straight to the Create recipe from the template menu.

  • To create the same recipe in another location using this template, simply navigate to the other location, and follow the Create Recipe from Template steps.
  • Linked recipes will be displayed using the link icon (mceclip6.png) ahead of the recipe under "Recipes".
