▶️Batch Template Follow
Using the Recipe Template feature, Batch Templates can be created as well.
To create a Batch Template, select Recipe Template from the main menu to access your recipe templates. These are organised using the same sales categories as your recipes. To create a new template, click on Add New Template.
Enter your batch name and category.
To ensure the template you are creating is a batch, make sure to tick the Batch? box.
You will be given a number box and a unit drop-down menu.
Use this to set the output for your Batch Template. In this example, our batch output will be 5 PORTIONS (8 POR).
Click on the Select Product field to find the product selection menu. This list will display all products available on the system, so it is highly recommended to use the search bar.
Once you have selected your ingredient, enter the quantity and unit measurement below the product name.
When you have entered the correct details, click on the Save button to add that information to your batch template.
Continue until your batch template is complete. The template is auto-saved as you add information to it. You can also add Procedure, Presentation, and Notes to your template, as well as images. There is no limit on the amount of products you can add.
Once your template is finished, you can create the finished batch recipe from the template screen or the template menu. Simply click on Create from the menu or Create Recipe from the template.
Batch Creation
The Batch creation screen will show you the items in your template with their units and quantities. If everything matches up, you will see green thumbs-up icons. If you attempt to create a recipe from a template but do not have the ingredients available in your location, you will see red thumbs-down icons according to the items you lack:
If you are having trouble with incompatibility, take a look through the Recipe Template Troubleshooting guide.
In this case, we will only have to make one change through location mapping to have all of our items available.
The fields here are:
- Batch Name - The name of your batch (if you link the batch, this will remain the same as the template).
- Product Group - use the drop-down menu to select a product group, this is for categorization purposes and where you will stocktake your batch.
- Output Qty - the batch output that was set earlier on your template. This can only be changed from the template.
- Yield % - this is the yield of your batch. Leaving this blank will default it to 100%.
- Link Batch? - Ticking this box will link the batch to the template. Any changes to the name, ingredients, or quantities made on the template will be reflected in the batch. You will not be able to edit a linked batch - edits must be made to the template instead. Batches can be unlinked at any time.
Creating an unlinked batch from a template will result in a batch that behaves like any other.
Batches are displayed with the batch icon () and linked batches or recipes are displayed with the link icon ().
Batch Templates can contain other batches as well as products, for an unlimited number of each as well as an unlimited amount of batches within batches within batches, and so on.
